Where are we growing?

Global warming and its effect on climate change is the greatest everyday problem we face. By releasing more CO2 into the atmosphere we are effectively wrapping a blanket around the Earth, trapping in more heat energy from the sun and raising the Earth's temperature. Whilst many of us are already doing our best to reduce our impact on our environment, we need to remember that we have already done a lot of damage which needs to be undone, so aiming to be carbon neutral is simply never going to be enough. There is no quick fix or band-aid solution but there is a great hope - nature has already come up with a simple and effective solution - trees.

Trees naturally breathe in CO2 and turn it into oxygen, kicking off the blanket of CO2 we have created and restoring the Earth's temperature.

Trees also filter water, create habitats for animals, increase biodiversity and improve soil quality. As trees grow they also spread their seeds which grow into more trees and suck in even more CO2.

The world's forest ecosystems are estimated to store more carbon than the entire atmosphere. Yet sadly it also estimated that in only 10 years time we will have destroyed more than half of our natural forests.

To combat global warming and climate change we need to plant and replant more trees, but who's going to pay for it?

We all are.

Not by paying more for products and not by reducing profit margins, but by being smarter.

Starting with our four new products for 2009, everything we make at Dreamfarm will be sold in reusable displays. No more individual packaging, no more plastic blisters, no more bulky cardboard boxes and waste that ends up getting thrown away. If it's not absolutely vital for protection during shipping, we are not using it. Instead of cutting down trees, we are cutting out packaging so you only take home what you actually want.

And what are we going to do with all that money we save by not making unnecessary packaging?

We are planting trees.

Every time you choose to take home a Dreamfarm product we will plant a tree for you. We have taken what others have seen as an opportunity for a great promotion and turned it into an even greater policy. By removing packaging and planting trees, together we will help remove that blanket of CO2 and grow one step closer towards making sure our world remains a place we love to live in.
